Bayne Ranken in 1857, records the taking of the chair. Subsequently it was in the collection of the 20th century British architect Sir James Stirling (1924-1992).";

The interior handles are original however the escutcheon and handles to the deep outside drawer have been replaced in c 1740.";

Unlike many pieces of Dutch furniture it has not been repolished and has retained its wonderful patination and colour.  I think therefore that it is quite possible that it was imported into this country soon after it was made. ";
